18 year old female 38G underwent breast reduction to 38DD. Breast hypertrophy or overgrowth of breast tissue begins at puberty. It can become a debilitating condition for young girls as they develop and mature more quickly than their peers. These patients often experience low self esteem and poor posture with restriction in preferred activities due to the presence of heavy, large breasts. The amount of breast tissue removed is estimated based on your body surface area (calculated with your height and weight) using the Schnur scale; this is only if the procedure is submitted for approval through your insurance. The anchor pattern is used for the removal of large amounts of tissue because it allows for removal of excess skin and breast tissue.
