Spider veins and broken capillaries can make many people feel self-conscious. Laser vein treatments can minimize and eliminate the appearance of both spider veins and broken capillaries.

What is Laser Vein Treatment?

Laser vein treatment is when a laser directly targets the problem vein with heat pulses. Dr. Leong uses the Vbeam® Laser, which uses Pulsed Dye Laser or PDL technology to treat spider veins and broken capillaries.

How Does Laser Vein Treatment Work?

The Vbeam® Laser’s PDL technology is aimed at and then absorbed by each vein. When the vein absorbs the laser, the vein collapses. During a laser vein treatment with the Vbeam® Laser, you may feel a gentle heat on the skin. The Vbeam® Laser has integrated Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) technology that cools the skin in between each heat pulse.

The laser affects only spider veins and broken capillaries, which does not harm the skin itself. This is because the heat of the laser is carefully designed to only work on the vein that Dr. Leong will treat.

How Long Does a Typical Laser Vein Treatment Take?

A typical laser vein treatment can take 25 to 40 minutes, depending on the extent of the treatment. The number of veins treated can also lengthen the treatment time.

While you may see results after just one treatment session, we recommend having 3 to 5 treatments 4 to 6 weeks apart. The body needs time to clear away the collapsed vein, and that process can take a few weeks.

What Results Will I See From Laser Vein Treatment?

Patients who undergo laser vein treatment may see the minimized appearance of smaller spider veins and broken capillaries in just one treatment. With laser vein treatment, the skin’s overall appearance can improve for a smoother, less red complexion.

It can take 1 to 3 months for larger spider veins and broken capillary treatment areas to resolve. These more prominent spider veins and broken capillaries darken after treatment and then fade.

Is There Any Downtime From Laser Vein Treatment?

There may be a feeling like a mild sunburn after laser vein treatment. Redness and swelling for 3 days after treatment are typical. Most patients can resume their daily routine immediately after having laser vein treatment.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Vein Treatment?

You may be a good candidate for laser vein treatment if you suffer from noticeable spider veins or broken capillaries. If you have large, bulging varicose veins, laser vein treatment may not be the right step, and you may need surgery instead.

We will work with every patient to ensure that laser vein treatment is the most suitable for their goals.
