If you feel deeply embarrassed about your vaginal area, you may have difficulty talking about it. Dr. Leong understands how many women feel self-conscious about this part of their bodies. You can improve the appearance and function in this area with a labiaplasty

What is a Labiaplasty?

A labiaplasty can address aesthetic or functional concerns with the labia minora, the inner lips of the vulva. Unfortunately, many women feel uncomfortable exploring this life-changing option. If you think your vulva is unattractive or strange, you should know that vulvas come in a dramatic range of sizes, shapes, and appearances. None are unacceptable or ugly. No matter what your labia look like, you should not feel ashamed to seek help.

How Does a Labiaplasty Work?

Dr. Leong usually performs labiaplasties using local anesthesia and light oral sedation in the office. More involved procedures may require general anesthesia. Dr. Leong typically uses a “wedge” technique. This method uses hidden incisions to produce a natural-looking, aesthetically pleasing result. This procedure removes excess skin and tissue from the inner labia, so they are symmetrical and achieve your desired appearance. Dr. Leong typically will address the clitoral hood at the same time using the same incision.

While other plastic surgeons may offer labiaplasty, Dr. Leong specializes in vaginal procedures and enjoys helping women feel more confident about their bodies. If you have been reluctant to seek help in the past, rest assured that you will receive the level of professionalism and understanding you deserve.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Labiaplasty?

You may be a good candidate for a labiaplasty if your labia makes you self-conscious or uncomfortable. Longer labia minora can become visible in fitted clothing, chafe during activities like bike riding, or interfere with sexual enjoyment. Ideal candidates are in good health and have reasonable expectations. Only a consultation can determine whether a labiaplasty is a good option for you.

What is Recovery Like After a Labiaplasty?

You will experience some swelling, bruising, and discomfort after your procedure. Ice packs can decrease swelling and help you feel more comfortable. Plan to recover for five to seven days before returning to work or light activities. You should avoid tampons or sexual activity for four to six weeks. Most swelling will have faded within this time, but residual swelling can last several months.

How Much Does a Labiaplasty Cost?

Several factors affect the cost of a labiaplasty. These include your provider’s skill, experience, and location. The use of local or general anesthesia will also make a difference. Your labiaplasty may cost about $7,500. Dr. Leong will discuss your costs during your consultation, so you know what to expect.
