What is Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation usually uses implants to enhance and enlarge the breasts. Implants come in silicone and saline forms, as well as the Ideal Implant, which contains an inner and outer shell filled with saline, separated with baffles to provide a natural look and feel.
Breast augmentation is not limited to enlargement. The procedure enhances shape and cleavage, with round and teardrop implant options available. Rounder implants provide more fullness in the upper part of the breast, the area where most women want to add volume while teardrop implants result in softer more natural appearing breasts. Women can also choose from implants with different profiles. This will determine the projection of the breasts.
Can You Have Natural Breast Augmentation?
Not all women feel comfortable with implants, and some women do not feel like they need them. Dr. Leong offers natural breast augmentation fat transfer. This procedure uses liposuction to harvest fat from another area of the body. After purification, this fat is injected into the breasts. This produces subtle but noticeable results, sometimes up to a full cup size, making breast augmentation without implants possible.
What Is Breast Augmentation Like?
Dr. Leong will make an incision and place the implants into a pocket located either beneath the muscle or on top of the muscle but under the fascia (connective tissue). Incisions will either follow the edge of the areola, the crease under the breast or in the underarm area to produce an almost invisible scar.
How Long is Recovery From Breast Augmentation?
You will go home wearing a special supportive bra. Most people can go back to normal activities after a few days, but you will need to avoid exercise for four to six weeks or until Dr. Leong approves it. Your breasts will settle into their new position over the next three to six months, so final results will take some time to appear.
What Results Will I See From Breast Augmentation?
You can see perkier, fuller, more shapely breasts after your breast augmentation. If you have lost breast volume due to age, weight changes, or pregnancy, a breast augmentation can restore your fullness. If you feel like your breasts have an undesirable or uneven appearance, an augmentation can improve your confidence and make you feel like you have the breasts you were meant to have.
Am I a Good Candidate for Breast Augmentation?
Ideal candidates are in good health, and their breasts are completely developed. Most women seeking breast enhancement make good candidates for breast augmentation. If you also have loose skin that contributes to sagging breasts, you may be a good candidate for a breast lift as well.
