What are the Benefits of a Brow Lift?

Humans have wonderfully expressive eyebrows. However, a lifetime of motion can lead to sagging and loose skin in the brow and forehead area. A brow lift restores your eyebrows to a youthful position and smooths forehead creases. With several forms of the procedure available, Dr. Leong can customize your brow lift to meet your needs.

What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift, also known as a forehead or eyebrow lift, corrects drooping brows. It gives the upper third of the face a smoother, more lifted appearance. People often have a brow lift to address concerns such as brow position, forehead creases, brows that feel heavy or droop over the eyes, and loose, sagging skin.

What are the Benefits of a Brow Lift?

A brow lift provides benefits including:

  • A youthful, refreshed appearance
  • No more looking tired or angry
  • A well-shaped and positioned brow
  • A smooth, wrinkle-free forehead
  • Relief from a feeling of heaviness
  • Eyes that look wider and more open

In some cases, you can combine an eyebrow lift and an eyelid lift. People with drooping upper eyelids may still have concerns about the appearance of their eye area after a brow lift. An eyelid lift can correct sagging or wrinkled eyelid skin and puffy undereye bags.

How is an Eyebrow Lift Performed?

Dr. Leong uses one of several techniques to perform a brow lift. Each procedure has advantages in different situations.

Lateral Brow Lift (Open Incision)

Dr. Leong might use this technique if you do not have excess forehead skin but low brows without much of an arch. It uses a small incision in the hairline above each brow to remove loose skin and create an attractive, natural-looking brow arch.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

This procedure uses an endoscopic camera and tools inserted through small incisions in the hairline. The skin is lifted and repositioned to achieve more lifted brows. Endoscopic procedures minimize recovery time and the need for large incisions.

Pretrichial Brow Lift

This procedure uses an incision along the hairline to lift and tighten the forehead and brows. Candidates for this technique typically have sagging skin and creases on the forehead, a receding hairline, or other issues requiring a more intensive procedure.

What is Recovery Like From a Brow Lift?

After an eyebrow lift, you can expect bruising and swelling in the upper facial area. How much you have and how long it takes to fade depends on the type of procedure and your natural healing responses. Cold compresses can decrease swelling and keep you comfortable. You should also sleep with your head elevated for at least three nights after surgery.

Most people can return to work within about a week. Bruising and swelling usually resolve within two to three weeks, and you can start to resume normal activities. Dr. Leong will provide instructions on when it is safe to resume your exercise routine or a physically demanding job.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Brow Lift?

Good candidates for a brow lift have concerns about the position and appearance of their brows or complain about heavy brows after neurotoxin treatments. They may also have issues with sagging skin or lines and wrinkles on the forehead. Ideal candidates are healthy and understand what to expect from their results. You may not be a good candidate if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have certain medical conditions.

“Dr. Leong is amazing at what she does and makes you feel incredibly comfortable at the same time. I’ve gone to other plastic surgeons who make it feel like a business transaction, but Dr. Leong and her staff make it feel like a friend giving you advice. Her office is very cozy with pink walls, fluffy pillows, and crystal chandeliers. I am so happy with my results and felt so comfortable having her as my surgeon. I would trust Dr. Leong with any procedure.”
