A breast lift can help to enhance the appearance of the breasts. However, many patients who want a breast lift ask, how much does it cost, what is a breast lift
What is a Breast Lift?
Over time, the breasts start to droop from gravity and look less firm. A breast lift is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin from the breasts and tightens the remaining tissue.
Hormonal changes, pregnancy and weight gain/loss can all have deleterious effects on the breasts. A breast lift can improve the look of breasts that have started to appear less youthful over time.
A breast lift can also be combined with other breast augmentation or auto-augmentation procedures.
How Much is a Breast Lift?
How much a breast lift costs can depend on a variety of factors. Location and the doctor’s experience can determine how much a breast lift can be. The average cost of a breast lift in 2020 was $5,012 but can be up to $14,000 (not inclusive of operating room time or anesthesia). Dr. Leong can help you determine the cost of your breast lift and any complementary procedures such as breast augmentation during your initial consultation.
For those who need assistance, Dr. Leong also partners with low-interest financing institutions to help you afford your breast lift procedure.
What is a Breast Lift Procedure Like?
A breast lift is performed under general anesthesia and typically takes around 2 to 4 hours to complete. The time to complete the surgery depends on the size of the breasts and the amount of sagging that needs to be corrected.
There are two incision patterns Dr. Leong can make during a breast lift – the anchor technique (also known as an inverted-T) and the vertical or ‘lollipop’ technique. This decision is made at the time of your consultation and depends on how much excess skin and tissue you have.
The nipples and the surrounding areolas are generally moved upwards during a breast lift. The nipples are NOT removed just repositioned. Dr. Leong can customize them to fit the new look of the lifted breast. The overall goal is perkier, slightly smaller breasts.
Recovery and Recovery After a Breast Lift
A breast lift can take some time to recover from. You will be fitted with a supportive, breathable bra when Dr. Leong completes the breast lift. Dr. Leong does not use drains unless there were some concerns during surgery. After the procedure, you will be sent home with instructions to promote breast healing. Wearing your bra is vital to good scar formation!
Full results can take several months to see after a breast lift.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?
If you have breasts that are not as perky as they used to be and look saggy, a breast lift may be suitable. To be an ideal candidate, you should be at a stable weight and in good physical health. Dr. Leong will assess your candidacy for a breast lift during your consultation.
